YOUNG GENERATION IS THE FUTURE OF THE ENLARGED EUROPEAN UNION

On 7 April Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Antanas Valionis greeted the participants of the Model European Parliament and stressed that the young generation is the future of the enlarged European Union.

“The most important issues which European politicians are currently trying to settle such as Common Foreign and Security Policy, European citizenship and migration issues, European Constitution, Financial Perspective, enlargement, energy problems are on your table,” Foreign Minister said.

The Head of Lithuanian Diplomacy wished the participants of the Model European Parliament an efficient session and expressed hope that students would contribute new and interesting ideas about how to solve topical and important issues of the EU.

The Model European Parliament is an international project that aims at familiarizing the young people with European integration processes and work of the EU institutions. The students taking part in the project simulate sessions of the European Parliament, discuss topical issues of the EU, prepare and adopt resolutions.

On 1-9 April about 150 young people from Lithuania and other EU member states and candidate countries take part in the meetings of Foreign Affairs and Constitutional Affairs Committees of the Model European Parliament in Vilnius.
