Lithuania's cooperation with the Indo-Pacific

In 2023, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania released the Lithuania’s Strategic Guidelines for Indo-Pacific Region “For a secure, resilient and prosperous future: Lithuania’s Indo- Pacific Strategy”. The Strategy was prepared in pursuit of the Government's ambition to strengthen Lithuania's international standing, to foster political and diplomatic relations with like-minded partners in the region, to safeguard the security and prosperity of Lithuanian citizens and to open new opportunities for Lithuania's exporters in the world's leading markets. The Strategy aims to maintain momentum for the overall long-term engagement of the Lithuanian institutions in the region. Lithuania's fundamental interest in the Indo-Pacific region is the strengthening of the rules-based world order.

Lithuania is seeking to enhance practical cooperation with Taiwan, a likeminded democracy, and an important economic and technological partner in the region. The development of economic relations with Taiwan is one of Lithuania’s strategic priorities and a part of its economic diversification policy
