WTO NEGOTIATIONS DISCUSSED AT EU MINISTERIAL MEETING

Lithuania expects that at the oncoming Session of the General Council of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) the European Commission will seek to ensure the balance of commitments of all the WTO states. Ambassador at Lithuania's Permanent Representation to the European Union (EU) Oskaras Jusys emphasised this at the meeting of EU foreign and trade ministers in Brussels on 26 July. At the meeting, ministers of EU Member States discussed the ongoing process of WTO negotiations on the world trade liberalisation and put forward proposals shaping European Commission's position in Geneva. According to Ambassador Jusys, during the WTO negotiations on agricultural issues EU commitments must meet its determination regarding the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).
