WTO MINISTERIAL CONFERENCE ENDED IN DOHA

The Lithuanian delegation headed by Foreign Deputy Minister Evaldas Ignatavičius returned from the 4th WTO Ministerial Conference, which took place on November 9-14 in Doha, Qatar. The Conference officially declared the beginning of a New Round of negotiations and adopted a Ministerial Declaration embodying the provisions regulating the New Round of negotiations. A group of the new WTO Member States headed by Lithuania succeeded in achieving their interests to be reflected in the Ministerial Declaration. The WTO Ministerial Conference is the topmost decision-making body of the World Trade Organization. The Conference can take decisions that are obligatory to and must be implement by all the Member States. Lithuania took full advantage of the first opportunity to participate in decision-making process with the right to defend her interests in trade.
