While congratulating Iraq on Republic Day, Foreign Minister notes firm support in fight against terrorism
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius congratulated Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq Ibrahim Abdul-Kareem Hamza Al-Eshaiker Al-Jaafari on the occasion of the Republic Day of Iraq on 14 July 2016. In the letter to his fellow Minister, Linas Linkevičius notes friendly relations between Lithuania and Iraq and expresses firm support in Iraq’s fight against terrorism.
“I admire the strength and courage of Iraqi people and do believe in its peaceful and bright future, which your country deserves. At this important moment for Iraq, Lithuania reiterates its determination to continue supporting your efforts to create a peaceful and prosperous country”, Mr Minister writes.
The Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, on 29 June 2016, approved engagement of the Republic of Lithuania military in the coalition US-led military operation Inherent Resolve for training purposes from 1 July 2016 to 31 December 2017. Up to 30 military (instructors) and civilians from the system of Lithuanian national defence may join the military operation.
