VILNIUS HOSTS BILATERAL CONSULTATIONS BETWEEN LITHUANIA AND DENMARK ON SECURITY POLICY
During the bilateral political consultations with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark on 11 June in Vilnius, the Director of the Transatlantic Cooperation and Security Policy Department Gediminas Varvuolis presented the main priorities for the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, discussed cooperation in the field of arms control in Europe, and the Common Security and Defence Policy.
The meeting focused on conventional arms control, the officials exchanged views on key items on NATO’s current agenda.
The Head of the Department of Security Policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark Lars Bo Møller expressed his support to the priorities for the Lithuanian Presidency of the EU Council.
Varvuolis thanked Denmark for the country’s active contribution to revitalizing conventional arms control in Europe, also thanked for participating in the NATO air policing mission in the Baltic States, and called on developing joint regional projects.
The Royal Danish Air Force guarded the airspace over the Baltic States already four times in 2004, 2009, 2011 and 2013, and has plans to join the mission also in the future.
