Vice-Minister Vidmantas Verbickas discussed bilateral economic relations and educational exchanges with the ambassador of Indonesia

On November 19, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Vidmantas Verbickas met with the newly appointed Ambassador of Indonesia to Lithuania Siti Nugraha Mauludiah.

The meeting discussed issues of strengthening bilateral relations, focusing on the development of the partnership between Indonesia, which has the largest economy in the Southeast Asian region, and Lithuania. The Vice-Minister emphasized Lithuania's interest in expanding partnership in high-value-added sectors, including life sciences, information and communication technologies, renewable energy and engineering. The opportunities offered by the EU-Indonesia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), signed on 23 September 2025, were also discussed.

Both sides agreed to continue promoting student exchange through student exchange programmes, as well as facilitate bilateral cooperation between Lithuanian and Indonesian universities.

When discussing Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, the Vice-Minister stressed the need to defend the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity of states everywhere and at all times.

Lithuania and Indonesia established diplomatic relations in 1991. Siti Nugraha Mauludiah, who resides in Copenhagen, is the ninth Indonesian Ambassador accredited to Lithuania. Lithuania is represented in Indonesia by Ambassador Darius Gaidys, who resides in Singapore.
