Vice-Minister Verbickas discussed the development of bilateral cooperation in Brazil

On 24 June, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Vidmantas Verbickas, who is on a visit to Brazil, met with Thiago Poggio Pádua, Chief of Protocol at the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, the Vice-Minister emphasized that Lithuania is consistently strengthening its relations with Latin America and considers Brazil to be the most important partner in the region. Given the growing potential of bilateral cooperation, Lithuania intends to open an embassy in Brazil later this year.

During the visit, the Vice-Minister also met with Maria Laura da Rocha, Secretary General of Foreign Affairs, and Roberto Abdalla, Secretary for Europe and North America at the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meetings discussed in detail the possibilities of intensifying economic relations between Lithuania and Brazil, cooperation in trade, investment, and innovation, as well as the prospects for economic cooperation between the European Union and Latin America.

On 23 June, Verbickas attended the EU-Brazil Investment Forum, where he met with Laudemir André Müller, President of the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil). The Vice-Minister presented energy projects implemented by Lithuanian companies, discussed planned investments, and opportunities to develop bilateral business cooperation.

The meeting with the acting chargé d'affaires of Ukraine to Brazil, Oleg Vlasenko, focused on the prospects for the development of Ukraine's diplomatic representation in the Latin American region, possible cooperation between Lithuania and Ukraine in building resilience to disinformation, developing cultural ties, and promoting the involvement of Lithuanian and Ukrainian communities in Brazil.
