Vice-Minister Valys and the Ambassador of Italy discussed bilateral cooperation

On 20 January, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Taurimas Valys and the Ambassador of Italy to Lithuania Emanuele de Maigret discussed bilateral cooperation issues and ways to strengthen it, especially in the fields of defence, life sciences, innovation and space industry.

The Vice-Minister emphasized that Italy is a priority market for Lithuania's technology exports and inbound tourism, as well as a partner in innovation cooperation with significant potential in high-value-added sectors. The space industry was identified as a promising area for joint projects of the two countries.

“Lithuania and Italy are linked by strong and growing cooperation in the fields of defence, innovation and high-tech. We aim to maintain this momentum and make even greater use of the competences of both sides, especially in strengthening Europe’s security and competitiveness,” said the Vice-Minister.
Good examples of cooperation include the Lithuanian-Italian Defence Industry Forum in Rome in October 2025 and Italy’s significant role as a guest of honour at the Vilnius Space Days 2025 international event, held in May of the same year.
