On 11 September, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Julius Pranevičius and the newly appointed Ambassador of Thailand to Lithuania, Suphanvasa Chotikajan Tang, discussed bilateral relations, opportunities for cooperation in the fields of digital innovation and trade, and strengthening economic partnership in high value-added sectors.
The Vice-Minister Pranevičius emphasized that Lithuania sees Thailand as an important partner of the European Union in the Southeast Asian region and highly values long-term bilateral relations.
"Lithuania and Thailand share broader opportunities for cooperation, which hold untapped potential. This includes knowledge and student exchanges, cooperation in the fields of life sciences and laser technologies, as well as the exchange of experience on women's empowerment in STEM fields," said Pranevičius.
Bilateral trade reached €53 million in 2024, while Thai investments in Lithuania exceeded €58.5 million.
Lithuania and Thailand established diplomatic relations in 1993. Chotikajan Tang, who resides in Copenhagen, is the eleventh Thai ambassador accredited to Lithuania. Lithuania is represented in Thailand by Ambassador Darius Gaidys, who resides in Singapore.
