Vice-Minister Plepytė awarded Mockė, founder of the charity organisation "Ireland‘s Lithuanians care"

On 8 August, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Audra Plepytė, presented the Honour Award - a medal "For Diaspora Merits to Lithuania" to Rita Mockė, founder and head of the non-profit charity organisation “Ireland's Lithuanians Care“.

“This award is a sincere thank you for your dedication and the great work you are doing in bringing Lithuanians in Ireland together for noble purposes. A decade ago, the organisation “Ireland's Lithuanians Care, “ founded by you and the like-minded people, became a beacon of hope for many families of with children suffering from oncological diseases in Lithuania,” Vice-Minister Plepytė said when congratulating the winner.

The charity organisation “Ireland's Lithuanians Care“ aims to financially help Lithuanian children with oncological and rare diseases. The efforts by Mockė brought together dozens of Lithuanian companies, organizations, and communities operating in Ireland, and hundreds of individuals who donated more than 300,000 euros during the decade of the organization's existence. Thanks to Mockė, volunteers have been mobilized to work free of charge at various Lithuanian fairs and campaigns, collecting funds for sick Lithuanian children. The volunteers of the organization foster the Lithuanian identity and strive to maintain ties with their homeland. In 2022, the charity organisation won the Lithuanian Power Award in the “Strong Lithuania” category.
