Vice-Minister Audra Plepytė: Lithuania and Singapore share a common goal to strengthen the rules-based world order
On 4 November in Vilnius, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Audra Plepytė met with Lawrence Anderson, Special Envoy of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore.
The meeting focused on cooperation between Lithuania and Singapore at the level of international organisations, support for Ukraine, and countries' positions regarding the International Court of Justice.
"Lithuania values Singapore as a responsible member of the international community and a close partner. Small but active states can play a significant role in strengthening international law", stressed the Vice-Minister Audra Plepytė.
According to the Vice-Minister, Lithuania and Singapore share the common goal of strengthening the rules-based world order; therefore, both countries actively support the principles of international law and cooperate to defend them across various multilateral fora.
The Vice-Minister also stressed the importance of continued support for Ukraine. Sustainable peace and the prevention of the use of brutal force in the future directly depend on holding Russia accountable for its aggression against Ukraine. The involvement of the entire international community, the United Nations, and the International Court of Justice is essential in this process.
Lithuania and Singapore established diplomatic relations on 10 October 1993. In 2023, Lithuania's Embassy was opened in Singapore. and headed by Ambassador Darius Gaidys.
