VATICAN’S SECRETARY FOR RELATIONS WITH STATES IS ON A VISIT TO LITHUANIA
On 9-13 September Holy See Secretary for Relations with States Archbishop Dominique Mamberti visits Lithuania. The programme of the visit includes meetings with the President of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus, Speaker of the Seimas Viktoras Muntianas, Prime Minister Gediminas Kirkilas and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Petras Vaitiekūnas.
During the meetings with Lithuanian officials relations between Lithuania and the Holy See as well as relations between the state and religious communities and the importance of Christian values in Europe were discussed.
On 12 September Archbishop D.Mamberti delivered a lecture at the conference “The State and Traditional Religions: History, Significance and Prospects of Treaties”. Undersecretary of Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Žygimantas Pavilionis also spoke at the conference.
On 12 September D.Mamberti will visit Kaunas where it is foreseen to unveil a memorial plaque marking the pre-war premises of the Apostolic Nunciature of the Holy See in Lithuania.
