UNDERSECRETARY OF THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS PAID A WORKING VISIT TO ISRAEL

On 30 January, Undersecretary of Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Žygimantas Pavilionis paid a working visit to Israel. During the visit, Undersecretary of the Ministry met with Senior Deputy Director General of Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yossi Gal, also with Ministry's Deputy Director General for Central Europe and Eurasia Pini Avivi and other high-ranking officials of Israeli Foreign Ministry.

During the meetings Israel’s a more active involvement into the European Union’s Neighbourhood policy format and possibilities of closer cooperation between Lithuania and Israel in this process were discussed, also a lot of attention was dedicated to the Middle East peace process, relations with Russia, Iran’s nuclear program and other issues.

Visiting Yad Vashem Memorial and wreath-laying to commemorate Holocaust martyrs and heroes was included into the program of the visit of the Undersecretary of the Ministry. However, the visit to the Memorial was cancelled by its administration due to a snow storm in Jerusalem, as a major part of the exposition is situated outdoors.
