U.S. SENATOR TO RECEIVE LITHUANIAN STATE DECORATION IN WASHINGTON

On 4 April Lithuanian Ambassador to the U.S. Vygaudas Ušackas decorated U.S. Senator from Virginia George Allen with the Grand Cross of Commander of the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas.

During the solemn ceremony V. Ušackas underlined a very important role of G. Allen in ensuring U.S. Congress’ and Administration’s support for Lithuania’s NATO membership.Senator thanked for honourable decoration and stated that Lithuania’s and six other states’ accession to NATO strengthened the Alliance, and Lithuania has more than once proved to be a loyal ally ready to protect freedom and democracy in the world.G.Allen was awarded the Grand Cross of Commander of the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas by Lithuanian President on 25 June, 2003.
