THE WILL OF PEOPLE ON MAIDAN CANNOT BE IGNORED
On 10 January in Trakai, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius met with one of the Ukrainian opposition leaders, member of the Parliament of Ukraine (Verkhovna Rada) Petro Poroshenko and discussed the situation in Ukraine and possible future developments.
The head of the Lithuanian diplomacy once again stressed the need for peaceful dialogue between the Ukrainian government and opposition, and assured that Lithuania remained committed to continue to support European aspirations of the people of Ukraine.
P.Poroshenko thanked politicians from Lithuania and other Western countries for giving attention to Ukraine and called on them to stay focused on developments in this country.
This conversation took place in the margins of the traditional informal Snow Meeting. P.Poroshenko was invited to this event as a speaker in a debate on prospects for the Eastern Partnership programme in the aftermath of the Eastern Partnership Summit which was held in Vilnius in November.
P.Poroshenko is a member of the Ukrainian Parliament. He is also former Minister of Foreign Affairs and former Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine.
