THE STATEMENT OF LITHUANIAN MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS
Lithuania supports the concern expressed by France, holding presidency over the European Union, regarding current situation in Georgia.
Lithuania strictly condemns unceasing provocations against legitimate authorities of Georgia targeting Georgian and EU officials who are carrying out their duties.
Lithuania repeatedly drew attention of the international community to the fact that the occupational army still has not left the territory of Georgia, what is provided for the international contracts, coordinated by the EU. At present, this army becomes one of the factors that destabilize the situation in the region. We would like to stress once again, that this army should immediately leave the territory.
Lithuania also draws attention to the fact that the EU monitoring mission has still not been provided necessary conditions to accomplish its goals in the territory of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. We are convinced that an immediate implementation of this step would stop provocations resulting in human lives.
