‘THE STAR OF LITHUANIA'S MILLENNIUM’ WAS CONFERRED ON DIRECTOR GENERAL FOR ENERGY AND TRANSPORT AT THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION
On 27 April in Vilnius, the award of Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs ‘The Star of Lithuania’s Millennium’ was conferred on Director General of the Directorate-General for Energy and Transport at the European Commission Matthias Ruete for his merits of contributing to Lithuania’s integration into the European Union.
On behalf of Foreign Minister, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Žygimantas Pavilionis awarded and thanked M.Ruete for his active support to the enlargement of the European Union.
“We value your input into solving important for Lithuania strategic issues of energy and transport”, said Undersecretary of the Ministry Ž.Pavilionis.
On the occasion of the millennium of Lithuania’s name, the award of Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs ‘The Star of Lithuania’s Millennium’ was established in 2007 and is conferred for merits to the state of Lithuania and its foreign policy.
‘The Star of Lithuania’s Millennium’ is conferred on Lithuanian citizens and foreigners for their special merits of promoting the name of Lithuania, fostering and developing international relations, as well as for their special merits in the civil service.
