THE SEVENTH CONSULATE HEADED BY THE LITHUANIAN HONORARY CONSUL WAS OPENED IN GERMANY

On 24 April in Offenbach am Main, the seventh consulate headed by the Lithuanian Honorary Consul was opened in Germany. Vice-president of the German - Baltic Chamber of Commerce in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania Achim Naumann was appointed the Lithuanian Honorary Consul. A.Naumann is appointed to carry out consular functions in three German federal states: Hessen, Rheinland-Pfalz and Saarland.

Lithuanian Minister of Economy Vytas Navickas, Lithuanian Ambassador to Germany Evaldas Ignatavičius and representatives of politics, business and Lithuanian community in the federal state of Hessen participated and congratulated the new Lithuanian Consul during the opening of the Consulate.

During the opening ceremony, pupils from the private Lithuanian Gymnasium in Germany performed music.

A.Naumann was born in 1938 in Leipzig, where he acquired a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He has a long-term experience in the business of insurance. Since 1990 A.Naumann has been developing relations between German and Baltic insurance companies. In 2000, A.Naumann became chairman of the German-Lithuanian Business Association. Since 2004 he has been the Vice-president of the German - Baltic Chamber of Commerce in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, and President of the Regional Board in Lithuania.

Hopes are set on the appointment of the new Lithuanian Honorary Consul in the three economically strong German federal states to intensify the bilateral economic cooperation between Germany and Lithuania, to attract the investments of German companies in Lithuania, to improve the image of Lithuania and its representation in Germany.
