THE NEW RESIDENCE OF THE LITHUANIAN EMBASSY (Ambassador, 6/2006, p. 16)
To celebrate the 15th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations betwen Poland and Lithuania, under the honorary patronage of the Presidents: of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus and Poland Lech Kaczyński, in September there was the largest and most universal presentation of Lithuania abroad ever - "Days of Lithuania in Poland". In several cities, over 120 events took place, presenting Lithuanian culture, tradition, economy and tourist attractions of the Republic.
Their end coincided with the opening of the new residence of the Lithuanian Embassy in Warsaw. In a building next to it, the Center of Lithuanian Culture set up its own residence. On September 29th, the Presidents of both countries, Valdas Adamkus and Lech Kaczyński, by symbolically cutting the ribbon, have officially opened both sites. During the ceremony, President Kaczyński said: "I do not hide the satisfaction that here, on the Plaza of Three Crosses, on the most representative of Warsaw's streets, Aleje Ujazdowskie 12, will be the embassy of a country with which there is so much that links us. Links and linked in the past. Economic, political and cultural ties are something that, while the autonomy of both countries is maintained, will connect us in a very strong, stable and unbreakable way. This I wish the President, the Lithuanian Nation, and I will add that I also wish this for the Polish Nation."
