THE NEW LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER RECEIVES CONGRATULATIONS FROM HIS GERMAN COUNTERPART

On 14 December, the new Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius had a phone conversation with German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle, who congratulated his Lithuanian counterpart on assuming office.

Both Ministers welcomed the close cooperation between Lithuania and Germany, and agreed to further expand and deepen it, especially in the context of Lithuania’s forthcoming Presidency of the Council of European Union.

Linkevičius and Westerwelle invited one another to pay bilateral visits to Lithuania and Germany.

Germany is one of the most important partners of Lithuania in the EU and NATO, its second biggest trading partner and third largest investor in Lithuania.
