THE LITHUANIAN PRESIDENCY OF THE COUNCIL OF THE BALTIC SEA STATES PROMOTES CREATIVE INNOVATIONS

On 23 February in Vilnius, during the conference “The Sea of Creativity. Perspectives of Creative Industries in the Baltic Sea Region”, Lithuania’s Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Asta Skaisgirytė Liauškienė said that innovations were basis for a scientific and technological progress, which guaranteed development, competitiveness and friendly social environment.

According to the Vice-Minister, the current Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the Baltic Sea States holds the promotion of creativity, innovations and cooperation as one of the priorities of the Presidency. This would help to increase the competitiveness of the Baltic Sea region and to tackle the consequences of the global economic crisis more quickly.

The goal of the conference is to innovatively present and discuss various national and international initiatives that show how the Baltic Sea region supports the development of creative industries, to rectify needs for cooperation and to find solutions for the realisation of this cooperation in the best way.

Politicians, employees of governmental institutions, representatives from creative communities and industry enterprises of the entire Baltic region are taking part in the conference. Participants of the conference have a possibility to visit the newest Lithuanian centres of creative industries, and competition “Thinking. Express Workshop for the Creators of Tomorrow” is held.

The conference was organised by the Secretariat of the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the Baltic Sea States in cooperation with the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Lithuania. The partners of the conference are: the Ministry of Culture and the British Council. The conference is taking place on February 23-24 at the Design Innovations Centre.
