THE LITHUANIA-MONGOLIA CONSULTATIONS WILL TAKE PLACE IN VILNIUS
On 30-31 March, Secretary of State of the Mongolian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade Damdin Cogtbaatar will pay a visit to Lithuania.
During the visit, his meeting is planned with Coordinator for Lithuania’s Presidency of the Community of Democracies of the Foreign Ministry, Ambassador-at-Large Ina Marčiulionytė and bilateral consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Lithuania and Mongolia are scheduled.During the consultations, officials plan to discuss the celebration of the twentieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Mongolia, visits of state representatives, economic and cultural cooperation and regional issues.
The bilateral consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Lithuania and Mongolia are held for the second time. The first ones were held in Mongolia’s capital Ulan Bator in June 2010. During these consultations, the memorandum on cooperation was signed between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs.
In July this year, Mongolia will take over from Lithuania a two-year long Presidency of the Community of Democracies, which joins democratic states. On this occasion, President of Mongolia Tsakhia Elbegdorj is expected to visit the country.
Mongolia recognized Lithuania’s Independence on 29 August 1991. Diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Mongolia were established on 11 December1991.
