THE JOURNÉE DE LA FRANCOPHONIE IN LITHUANIA

20 March is the international Francophone Day. It marks the establishment of the International Francophone Organisation (20 March 1970) and spread of the French language and culture in the world. On 4 September 1999 Lithuania became an observer state of the International Francophone Organisation. This year the major event of Francophone days in Lithuania took place on 20 March at the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre, where a play Dienos ir dainos (Days and songs) devoted to Edith Piaf was performed. Enthusiasts of French language from the whole Lithuania were invited to this event.
