THE HEAD OF LITHUANIAN DIPLOMACY AWARDED THE CREATORS OF VISIONS OF LITHUANIA‘S FUTURE

On 8 December in the Vilnius Townhall Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas awarded participants of the contest „Present a Vision of Lithuania“ Minister P.Vaitiekūnas presented awards of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Gediminas Cibulskis who proposed a vision of Lithuania as a centre of successful experiments (topic „What is needed for Lithuania to be a happy country“) and Giedrius Surplys for a vision of dignified pragmatic cooperation spiced with nostalgia (topic „Lithuanian-Russian Concord Strategy“).

“I know from physicists that there is nothing more pragmatic than a good vision” - said Minister P.Vaitiekūnas when congratulating the contest winners.

Minister P.Vaitiekūnas was pleased that the contest initiator, the „Atgimimas“ weekly, invited citizens of our country to present Lithuania with a vision of future namely this year when we celebrate the twentieth anniversary of „Sąjūdis“.

“Our generation has realized the most beautiful vision of its life – reestablished a free and democratic state of Lithuania. This contest showed that during these twenty years we have not become indifferent to the fortune of our country, our nation”, said the Head of Lithuanian diplomacy.

This was already the second contest of visions of Lithuania‘s future. This year about 300 works created by people of different age and education were submitted. The works were evaluated by a commission consisting of scientists, businessmen, journalists and public figures.

The contest was initiated by the weekly „Atgimimas“ and construction company „Eika“.
