The Foreign Ministry's Political Director: a strong security and defence relationship between Lithuania and Poland is vital

On 9 April in Vilnius, Laimonas Talat-Kelpša, the Political Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, received the Undersecretary of State and acting as the Political Director at the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Robert Kupiecki, for political consultations. Kupiecki also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Kęstutis Budrys, and the Foreign Vice-Minister Julius Pranevičius.

The meetings focused on concrete steps taken by Lithuania and Poland towards effective joint action in NATO's and the European Union's formats, strengthening the response to threats posed to the security of the transatlantic space by Russia, and increasing support for Ukraine.

Talat-Kelpša underlined that the bilateral cooperation between Lithuania and Poland in the field of security and defence was of exceptional importance and thanked for Poland's contribution to the security of our region.

The Lithuanian representatives also expressed their gratitude to Poland for the assistance provided by sending a group of soldiers and engineering equipment to contribute to the search and rescue operation of the US soldiers in Pabradė.

“The Polish support and solidarity at a difficult moment once again demonstrated the unity, commitment, and joint action of NATO allies,” said the Political Director Talat-Kelpša.
