THE COMMUNITY OF DEMOCRACIES SUPPORTS THE INTERIM GOVERNMENT OF KYRGYZSTAN
On 24 April, the Convening Group of the Community of Democracies issued a statement in support of Kyrgyzstan’s society and the efforts of the country’s interim government to renew Kyrgyzstan’s move towards democracy, economic prosperity and respect for human rights.
“The world’s democratic community welcomes international actors’ efforts to normalize the situation in Kyrgyzstan and looks forward to a rapid return of the country to the democratic and constitutional order and the rule of law, it underlines important role that Kyrgyzstan plays in contributing to regional security,” the statement from the Community of Democracies says.
The Convening Group is an executive institution of the Community of Democracies. The Group meets at the ambassadorial level in Washington, D.C. All decisions are made by consensus. The Convening Group is comprised of seventeen countries.
