THE BLACK SEA STATES ARE INVITED TO USE THE COOPERATION EXPERIENCE OF THE BALTIC SEA STATES
On 15 September during the EU General Affairs and External Relations Council (GAERC) meeting in Brussels Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas discussed with his EU counterparts the situation in the Western Balkans, Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Talking about the prospects of closer cooperation in the Black Sea region the ministers noted that it is expedient to use the cooperation experience of the Baltic Sea States.
The EU foreign ministers also addressed the situation in the Near East and Iraq, exchanged opinions on the problem of Iran’s nuclear program.
On the eve of the GAERC meeting Foreign Minister Vaitiekūnas met the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Gela Bezhuashvili. The ministers discussed Georgia’s plan for resolution of frozen conflicts. Georgian representative thanked Lithuania for support on Georgia’s way of integration into Western structures.
