THE 55TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE OPENING OF THE LITHUANIAN CULTURE CENTER IS CELEBRATED IN PUŃSK

At the celebration concert that was held on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the opening of the Lithuanian Culture Center in Puńsk, Director of the Department of Lithuanians Living Abroad of the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Arvydas Daunoravičius and Lithuanian Consul in Sejny Liudvikas Milašius wished local Lithuanians to continue fostering their mother tongue and traditions.

“The activities of the Lithuanian Culture Center in Puńsk have lasted for over a half-century and it is difficult to assess what important role the center has played in fostering the Lithuanian language, customs and traditions, and in making the name of Lithuania famous not only in Poland, but also worldwide. Many persons, dedicated to the fostering of the Lithuanian identity, have been working here to create a living folk culture heritage of Lithuania,” A.Daunoravičius stressed in his welcome speech.

A.Daunoravičius and L.Milašius deliver speeches in PuńskHe thanked everyone, who had been taking care of the Lithuanian Culture Center in Puńsk and wished the center to continue to thrive as the House of the Unity for all Lithuanians.

Lithuanian Culture Center in Puńsk yearly hosts about 40 events, currently the center is home to 10 ensembles with 297 members.

Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs supports the activities of the Lithuanian Culture Center in Puńsk financially.
