The 18th Snow Meeting kicks off in Vilnius

On 17 January, the Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kęstutis Budrys, will open the Snow Meeting 2025, an annual gathering of foreign and security policy experts organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Vilnius. Traditionally held in January since 2008, the Snow Meeting 2025 will be held for the eighteenth this year.

This year’s discussions will focus on joint Western efforts to strengthen support for Ukraine, the need to act together to counter Russian threats, NATO’s strong defence and deterrence policy, and key topics on the Alliance’s agenda ahead of the NATO summit in The Hague.

“The Snow meeting is one of the most important foreign and security policy events in Lithuania, and it has a rich tradition. The fact that it takes place for the eighteenth time demonstrates the added value of this event. It is important for Lithuania to be a foreign and security policy-maker in the region, to present its views and priorities to partners and to seek common solutions to emerging security and geopolitical challenges,” Minister Budrys said.

At the invitation of Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Budrys, the Foreign Ministers of Estonia, Latvia, Poland and Romania, the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, and the NATO Deputy Secretary General are attending the meeting. Lithuanian and foreign politicians, representatives of institutions, academics, and security policy experts from the United States, Germany, France, the United Kingdom and other countries also participate in the Snow Meeting 2025.
