Support for Armenia’s European aspirations was expressed during a joint visit by representatives from Lithuania and France
On 14 April, Vice-Minister Audra Plepytė attended a trilateral meeting in Yerevan with Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan and French Minister Delegate for European Affairs Benjamin Haddad. The Vice-Minister also visited the Delegation of the European Union in Yerevan and the headquarters of the EU Mission in Armenia (EUMA) in Yeghegnadzor, where she was received by the new Head of Mission, Satu Koivu, and held a meeting with two Lithuanian experts working at the mission.
The meetings focused on deepening EU-Armenia cooperation and preparations for the high-level events scheduled for May 2026 in Yerevan: the EU-Armenia and European Political Community (EPC) summits.
The Vice-Minister welcomed the strategic agenda for the EU-Armenia partnership signed in December 2025 and the intensive work being done by Armenia to implement the visa liberalization action plan. “These bilateral agreements will not only allow us to further deepen our cooperation and open up new prospects, but will also contribute to strengthening Armenia’s institutional capacity and forge a stronger bond between the societies of the EU and Armenia,” said Plepytė.
During the visit, progress in the peace negotiation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan was also welcomed. Lithuania and the EU expressed their support for a sustainable and long-term resolution of the conflict, which would open up new opportunities for regional cooperation and lay the foundation for the further development of the countries and the creation of a stable and secure environment.
