STRENGTHENING OF COOPERATION BETWEEN LITHUANIA AND MOLDOVA
On 18 November Lithuania’s Ambassador to Ukraine and Moldova Viktoras Baublys met with the President of Moldova Vladimir Voronin and discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation.
President Voronin thanked Lithuania for political and expert support for Moldova’s integration into the European Union, appreciated Lithuania’s projects, that help to implement EU-Moldova Action Plan.
The Head of the State stressed that Lithuania is the closest and the most understandable state for Moldova in the whole EU. In the meeting EU Moldovan and Ukrainian border observation mission, that starts on 1 December, was discussed. Moldovan President emphasised that especially high hopes are put on Lithuanian officials taking part in the mission.
In Chisinau Lithuanian Ambassador also met with Information Technologies Minister Vladimir Malojen, the Chairman of Law, Procedures and Ethics Committee of the Parliament Vladimir Turkan, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Valerij Ostalep, other Moldavian officials.
During the meetings the issues of European integration, possibilities of NATO Individual Partnership plan, establishment of diplomatic representations in Vilnius and Chisinau, cancellation of foreigners registration in Moldova were discussed.
