STRENGTHENING LITHUANIAN-NORWEGIAN COOPERATION

On 1 December Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas received the new Ambassador of Norway to Lithuania Steinar Gil.

The participants of the meeting discussed bilateral relations, development of economic ties, regional cooperation and joint efforts of the states to encourage democratic processes in the eastern neighbours of Europe.

The Minister welcomed the start of realization of the European Economic Area’s and Norwegian Financial Mechanisms in Lithuania. The mechanisms aim to support projects in such sectors as conservation of the European cultural heritage, health and childcare and other.

Steinar Gil is the fifth Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Lithuania.
