STRENGTHENING LITHUANIAN-CROATIAN BILATERAL COOPERATION
On 6 October Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas with Croatian Minister of Foreign Affairs Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović who is on working visit to Lithuania discussed prospects of bilateral relations. Lithuanian Foreign Minister handed the project of Lithuanian-Croatian agreement on protection and promotion of investments to his counterpart. Lithuanian and Croatian Ministers agreed that it is necessary to promote economic cooperation of the states. The agreement would open new possibilities for business communities of both states.
The Ministers also discussed European integration processes, forthcoming NATO Summit in Riga, cooperation in Afghanistan and situation in the Western Balkans.
“Lithuania always supported Croatia’s striving to become a member of the European Union. We hope that Croatia’s integration into the EU will be successfully completed in 2008,” Lithuanian Foreign Minister Vaitiekūnas said.
Croatian Foreign Minister Grabar-Kitarović thanked Lithuania for friendly support and assistance on Croatia’s way of European and Euro-Atlantic integration. The Minister voiced hope that this visit would prompt closer cooperation on bilateral as well as on multilateral level.
In Vilnius Croatian Foreign Minister also meets President of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus, Chairman of the Seimas Viktoras Muntianas, Chairman of the European Affairs Committee of the Seimas Vydas Gedvilas and Rector of the University of Vilnius Benediktas Juodka.
