STRATEGIC LITHUANIAN-POLISH DIALOGUE WAS DISCUSSED IN DRUSKININKAI

A conference on strategic dialogue between Lithuania and Poland was held on 5-6 December in Druskininkai. Lithuanian and Polish parliamentarians, representatives of state institutions and non-governmental organizations, members of academic society and intellectuals had discussions on the partnership of the two countries and common challenges in the European Union and NATO.

Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Vygaudas Ušackas and Chairman of Lithuania’s Foreign Affairs Forum, Member of Seimas Emanuelis Zingeris took part in the conference.

Foreign Minister V.Ušackas welcomed the participants and noted that such informal meetings allowed comprehensive discussions not only on the bilateral agenda and sensitive bilateral issues, but also on cooperation in Euro-Atlantic institutions, joint formulation and protection of mutual interests in the most important areas of international policy.

This was the first bilateral event of such kind. Minister V.Ušackas expressed trust such meetings could be held annually.
