Statement on murder of US journalist

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania strongly condemns the murder of American journalist Steven Sotloff, abducted in August 2013 in Syria, and offers deepest condolences to his family, loved ones and all the people of the United States of America.
The second brutal and most gruesome crime committed in recent weeks against journalists who only do their work and carry out their duties has shocked the international community and every one of us. Those responsible for these crimes must be found and held accountable.
The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry once again honors those people who perform their peaceful professional duty in the perilous zones of armed conflict.
