Statement on murder of British citizen

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania strongly condemns the murder of a British aid worker, David Haines, who was abducted in Syria in 2013, and offers deepest sympathies to his family, loved ones and to all the people of the United Kingdom.

This brutal and heinous crime committed by the terrorist group ISIS, as well as the recently committed despicable crimes against the US journalists cannot break the resolve of international community nor the people of good will to fight terrorism. Those alleged to be responsible for these crimes must be brought to justice.

The Foreign Ministry of Lithuania once again pays tribute to those who risk their lives in conflict zones to perform their peaceful professional duties.
