STATEMENT OF LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER AUDRONIUS AŽUBALIS REGARDING THE DESECRATION OF THE GRAVES OF POLISH SOLDIERS

The information about the desecration of the Polish graves in Švenčionys is hurtful, especially on the eve of the coming All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, when, as Christians, we pay tribute of respect to the dead and to those who perished, and think about them. We condemn these attacks and stress that this is not an attack against the ethnic minority, but an attack against humanity.
Fortunately, the consequences have already been eliminated. A quick response to these attacks is important aiming to prevent any repeat in the future. I hope that the pre-trial investigation will help to find the culprits and to properly evaluate the offence.
