STATE SECRETARY OF THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS MET WITH LITHUANIAN BUSINESSMEN WORKING IN GEORGIA
On 21 February in Vilnius, State Secretary of Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Deividas Matulionis met with Lithuanian business representatives working in Georgia.
During the meeting, D.Matulionis and the businessmen discussed important political and economic issues of Lithuania and Georgia, matters of investment security and business environment in Georgia, as well as the cooperation with government institutions.
Lithuanian businessmen talked about their activity in Georgia and acquainted the State Secretary with the issues that were important to them.
During the meeting, the participants also discussed the conception of establishing the Lithuanian or the Baltic States’ Chambers of Industry and Commerce in Georgia. The conception was unanimously accepted by the Lithuanian business representatives, working in this Caucasian country.
This meeting was organised at the initiative of the Export and Investment Promotion Department of Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Lithuanian Embassy in Georgia.
In 2007 annual trade turnover between Lithuania and Georgia, compared to 2006, grew by 71,2 % and totalled 52,4 million Litas.
Lithuanian export to Georgia totalled 38 million Litas in 2007. Compared to 2006, the export increased almost 2,3 times.
In 2007 Lithuania’s foreign trade balance with Georgia was positive and totalled 23,6 million Litas.
