On 9-11 June, Boston, Massachusetts, hosted the sixth North American Lithuanian Business Forum (NALB Forum) - a traditional annual event that brought together several hundred Lithuanian and North American government, business, science, and innovation leaders from both sides of the Atlantic.
The participants were greeted by a video message from the patrons of the event - the President of the Republic of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, and the Governor of Massachusetts, Maura Healey. Opening the forum in Boston, Lithuanian Minister of Economy and Innovation Lukas Savickas presented the vision of the Lithuania-North America Economic Partnership and highlighted Lithuania's ability to innovatively address global challenges and our growing investments in future sectors, such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, green energy, and secure digital ecosystems.
On the main day of the event, the NALB Forum stage hosted inspiring presentations and in-depth discussions on life sciences, defence and energy innovation, artificial intelligence and space, and creative industries. The event featured more than 40 distinguished speakers, including Professor Vladimir Bulovič of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, whose presentation focused on how technology is changing our lives and what we can expect in the future, while the words of Vladas Bumelis, a scientist, entrepreneur, and Northway Biotech founder and CEO, were echoed by many: “Everything has to be done on time, not when you have the time”.
The week of the Forum was filled with other engaging activities and meetings as well: participants from Lithuania took part in two days of seminars on market entry strategies in the United States and Canada, while representatives of the life sciences, creative industries, Lithuanian academia, and science had the opportunity to join industrial business missions. The NALB Forum and sideline events are designed not only to initiate new contacts but also to inspire new ideas and future partnerships.
In support of Ukraine, the NALB Forum participants this year also fundraised money in a campaign that aims to help with the construction of a school in Bucha, Ukraine.
Each year, the NALB Forum is held in a different North American city, and adapts its thematic focus to highlight the strengths of the region. This year's event focused on life sciences, defence, and dual-use industries, information and communication technologies, and creative industries. Learn more about the Forum here.
