RUSSIAN AMBASADOR RECEIVES A NOTE OF PROTEST OVER LITHUANIAN AIRSPACE INFRINGEMENT

On 29 March, Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Evaldas Ignatavičius submitted a note of protest to Ambassador of Russia Vladimir Chkhikvadze over the infringement of the Lithuanian airspace.

The incident happened on 27 March from 7:17 to 7:19 p.m., when a Russian fighter jet Su-27 flew 12 km into the territory of Lithuania near Vištytis, and then it turned around to return to Russia’s Kaliningrad region.

The diplomatic note addressed to the Russian MFA draws attention to the infringement expressing Lithuania’s strict protest against it.

Lithuania demanded the Ambassador to ensure that such incidents would not occur in the future.
