ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION “RELATIONS AMONG PEOPLE: FROM TOLERANCE TOWARDS ACTIVE RESPECT - CONTINUING THE SPIRIT OF OSCE CONFERENCES” ORGANIZED IN VILNIUS
On 4 April Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affaires, the Litvakes Foundation and the International Commission for the Evaluation of the Crimes of the Nazi and Soviet Occupation Regimes in Lithuania organized a round table discussion “Relations among people: from tolerance towards active respect – continuing the spirit of OSCE conferences” in Lithuanian Seimas.
The event aims at dialogue among international decision makers and active society members on creating the culture of tolerance, dealing with problems related to hatred between nations and practical implementation of recommendations of the forums of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). It is also planned to share countries’ experience and to find directions for further joint activities.
Nowadays important discussion on intercultural cooperation and tolerance is transferred to regional format: representatives from Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Russia, experts from Caucasian states are invited to take part in the open dialogue.
Representatives from the OSCE, the Council of Europe, non-governmental organizations of neighbour states participate in the discussion. Georgian Civic Integration Minister arrives to the event, experts from the U.S. and Israel Stephen Roth Institute for the Study of Contemporary Anti-Semitism and Racism are to make presentations.
