REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE MINISTRIES OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF LITHUANIA, LATVIA AND ESTONIA DISCUSSED ISSUES OF DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION

On 6 February in Trakai, Undersecretary of Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Laimonas Talat-Kelpša took part in trilateral consultations of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia on development cooperation.

During the meeting with Under-Secretary of State of Latvia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maija Manika and Director-General of the External Economic and Development Cooperation Department of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Priit Pallum, the cooperation among the Baltic States in the area of democracy promotion and development cooperation was discussed.

Representatives from the ministries also exchanged opinions on the way the countries intended to achieve the goals that were set to increase the official support to development up to 0,17 % of the Gross National Income by 2010, and up to 0,33% by 2015.

During the consultations, the Undersecretaries also discussed priorities of development cooperation for 2008. L.Talat-Kelpša invited Latvia and Estonia to implement a few development cooperation projects together in partner countries.
