REGULAR ROUND OF NEGOTIATIONS ON THE REAL ESTATE OF LITHUANIAN AND RUSSIAN EMBASSIES WAS HELD

On January 10, a regular round of negotiations of bilateral intergovernmental commission's working group on the real estate of Lithuanian and Russian diplomatic representations was held in Moscow. Neris Germanas, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed the Lithuanian negotiators and his counterpart was Lyudvig Chyzhov, Ambassador at Large of the Russian MFA. During the negotiations the Lithuanian party proposed to resolve the issue of property of the diplomatic representations' real estate in Vilnius and Moscow and only then to start consideration of the proposals by both parties on the elimination of inadequacy of areas of the embassies' premises. The Russian side agreed with the Lithuanian position on further course of negotiations. The Russian negotiators expressed their readiness to consider Lithuania's proposal, so that both parties would be given the right to freely dispose of the respective diplomatic representation's real estate. The parties agreed that the next round of negotiations will be held in Vilnius, with its date to be fixed by diplomatic channels.
