PUBLIC PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP IS ESTABLISHED AS LITHUANIA PREPARES FOR EU PRESIDENCY
On July 26 in Vilnius, Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Krasta Auto, a BMW car dealer in Lithuania, signed a support agreement, which has no analogous agreements in spectre and value. Subject to the terms and conditions of this agreement, the company will contribute to the organization of events during Lithuania’s Presidency of the EU Council. Krasta Auto and the BMW Group responded to the MFA’s call for partners for Lithuania’s Presidency of the EU Council. They will provide up to 180 third, fifth and seventh-class new cars.
“This is a unique situation, because so far we have never received so much support for an international event. I believe that also other businesses will take advantage of this exceptional opportunity to provide their services and products to participants of the events that will be held during Lithuania’s Presidency,” Foreign Minister Audronius Ažubalis said at the signing ceremony.
More than 200 Presidency events will be held in Lithuania in the second half of 2013. BMW cars will be used to transport high level delegations of heads of state, ministers and European Commission. Transportation is one of the most visible and most costly aspects of events. Therefore, cooperation with sponsors in this field will allow us to use public funds for the Presidency more efficiently.
Asta Bagdonavičienė, General Manager at Krasta Auto, and MFA’s Chancellor Valdas Lastauskas signed the agreement.
Last year Krasta Auto supported the OSCE Ministerial Council, which was one of the largest events in Lithuania. The company provided limousines for foreign delegations.
The MFA announced its call for partners for Lithuania’s EU Presidency in 13 areas in January 2012.
