PUBLIC EVENTS ON NATO-RUSSIA RELATIONS TAKE PLACE IN PSKOV

On 24 May public events of the NATO-Russia Rally dedicated to NATO-Russia relations took place in Pskov.

These events continued the NATO-Russia Rally, a series of public events across the Russian Federation  that started on 11 May in Vladivostok. The series will be finished in Kaliningrad on 26 May.

On 24 May a conference “Ability to Operate Together: NATO-Russia Council Military-to-Military Cooperation” was organized in Pskov. Students and professors, politicians, journalists, NGO and Government representatives took part in the conference.

During the conference speeches were given by NATO Information Office Director in Moscow Isabelle Francois, Deputy Head of Pskov Administration Dmitrij Shahov, Ambassador of Latvia to the Russian Federation Andris Teikmanis, Ambassador of Estonia to the Russian Federation Marina Kaljurand, Ambassador of Denmark to the Russian Federation Per Carlsen, Consul-General of Lithuania in Saint Petersburg Eitvydas Bajarunas, officers and experts of Russian Ministry of Defence.

The participants of the conference continued discussions in the meeting with students in Pskov Polytechnic University. NATO-Russia relations, Russia’s relations with NATO members, situation in the world were discussed there.

The events were finished with gala concert in Pskov Cultural Centre where bands from Estonia, Lithuania and Latvian chamber choir took part.
