PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTORS COOPERATE CLOSELY TO GET PREPARED FOR THE FINAL EVENT OF THE OSCE CHAIRMANSHIP

The upcoming OSCE Ministerial Council, which will once again turn Vilnius into the center of international policy, is being organized in close cooperation with the private sector.

The 18th session of the OSCE Ministerial Council is due on 6-7 December in the capital city of Lithuania, and is expected to bring together Foreign Ministers from the 56 OSCE participating States and 12 Partners for Co-operation - African and Asian countries - also the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and representatives from other key international and regional organizations.

It is expected that about 1.5 thousand guests will take part in the event at the Lithuanian Exhibition and Congress Centre LITEXPO and in other events in Vilnius.

Businesses also contribute significantly to the organization of one of the largest international events in Lithuania: company “Krasta Auto” is supplying limousines free of charge that will carry members of delegations; company “Samsung Electronics Baltics” is supplying participants of the meeting and journalists with TV sets, computers and printers; guests will be treated to the Lithuanian cheese “Džiugas” and mineral water “Tichė” that are provided by company “Žemaitijos pienas”  and JSC “Baltijos mineralinių vandenų kompanija.”

The Ministerial Council is expected to take important decisions on new media, journalists, energy security, fight against cyber threats and drug trafficking, confidence building measures in military and security sphere, cooperation with Afghanistan and Mediterranean countries. It is expected that the Ministerial Council will evaluate the progress, which was made in the negotiations to resolve the longest-running protracted conflicts in Transnistria, Nagorno-Karabakh and Georgia.

A forum of non-governmental organizations and training for Mediterranean NGOs will take place on the same day.

Media representatives, wishing to cover the OSCE Ministerial Council, have to be accredited. Accreditation will provide access to the Press Center in Litexpo on 6-7 December, where sessions of the OSCE Ministerial Council will be broadcasted live. Accredited media representatives will have a possibility to participate in the press conference of the OSCE Troika on 7 December.

The deadline for accreditation is 25 November 2011.  Later, media representatives, who will fill in the accreditation form, will receive more detailed information regarding their work during the events via e-mail.
