POLITICAL CONSULTATIONS BETWEEN LITHUANIA AND ISRAEL WERE HELD IN JERUSALEM
On 21-22 June bilateral political consultations between Lithuania and Israel were held in Jerusalem. The delegation of Lithuania‘s Ministry of Foreign Affairs was headed by Vice-Minister Asta Skaisgirytė Liauškienė.
During the consultations, bilateral political and economic issues were discussed. Special attention was dedicated to the matters of the European Union and the Middle East Peace Process, cooperation in the international organizations.
A bilateral programme for the cooperation in the fields of culture, education and science in 2009-2011 was signed during the consultations. During the visit, issues of the Jewish community that are important to Lithuania and Israel were also discussed.
On 21 June the third office of Lithuania‘s honorary consul was opened in Israel. It is headed by a prominent Israeli businessman, Amnon Dotan.
On 22 June Vice-Minister A.Skaisgirytė Liauškienė presented a concert by Lithuanian musicians Zecharia Plavin and Raimondas Butvilas in Jerusalem‘s Crown Symphony Hall.
In Tel Aviv, the Vice-Minister also visited the opening of the 20th International Fair For Technological Innovations and Achievements, Technology 2009.
Lithuanian enterprises „Midpoint systems“ , „Baltic Orbis“, and „Informacinių projektų sistemos“ take part in the fair where they present electronic security systems for buildings, information systems for insurance companies, other solutions of information systems and services.
The participation of Lithuanian companies in the fair was organized by Lithuania‘s Embassy in Tel Aviv together with Lithuania‘s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Infobalt association.
