Peterborough Lithuanian awarded Diplomacy Star

On 23 January, the Lithuanian Ambassador in the UK Asta Skaisgirytė during her working visit in Peterborough awarded Steponas Bronius Vaitkevičius with the Lithuanian Diplomacy Star - the award of honour of Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Throughout his 50 years of voluntary service a long-serving member of Peterborough Lithuanian Community Vaitkevičius held important positions in several organizations, including in the Knights of St Columba and the Scout association. In 2015 Vaitkevičius was awarded with Peterborough Civic Award for his Lifetime Achievements.

Ambassador Skaisgirytė commended Vaitkevčius on his lifetime achievements and on his role model integration into the local community.

Before returning to London, the diplomat met with the Lord Mayor of Peterborough David Sanders and Lithuanians living in Peterborough.
