PERSPECTIVES OF COOPERATION WITH NORDIC COUNTRIES WERE DISCUSSED
On 23 May Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas discussed with Halldór Ásgrímsson Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers perspectives of Lithuania’s cooperation with Nordic countries.
The officials exchanged opinions on Lithuania’s cooperation in the programs of the Nordic Council of Ministers in the areas of culture, education, business, environment protection, improvement of public administration work and other.
The programs implemented by the Nordic Council of Ministers in Lithuania and other neighbour states aim at reaching the same level of welfare in the Baltic and Nordic states, creating sustainable and dynamic Baltic Sea region, increasing mutual understanding between our nations.
Further coordination of international donors’ assistance to the European Humanities University in Vilnius was also discussed with H. Ásgrímsson.
H. Ásgrímsson, former Icelandic Prime Minister is the Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers from 1 January 2007.
